Happy Birthday to the United States Marine Corps!

On 10 November 1775, just months after the start of the Revolutionary War, the Continental Marines were founded. They had onboard security for Colonial vessels, sharpshooters protecting ship captains from high atop the masts, and infantrymen fighting battles from land and sea.

During that time, there had been no more than 2,000 enlisted Colonial Marines. But today, the USMC has over 200,000 men and women in either active duty or the reserves. Men and women who have made many sacrifices for the good of our nation. To every Marine who is serving or has served (because once a Marine, always a Marine), I want to say thank you and happy birthday!
